In the past few years, like many others, I've experienced significant personal growth and change. My journey led me from a thriving design business to becoming a primary caregiver for my beautiful parents, who have since passed away. Throughout this time, I thought a lot about how I could serve others. I suppose, I’ve been searching for my purpose while taking time to heal.
During this transformative period, I found solace in my writing and painting, using them as a means to cope with my grief by immersing myself in the magical world I was crafting. In 2020, I began a series of paintings depicting room interiors within an enchanted Gothic mansion. As I painted, a story began to unfold, and I decided to write a screenplay to bring it to life. I envisioned it as a stop-motion animation, a medium of art I adore. Little did I know the journey ahead.
Along the way, I encountered incredible mentors, directors, and producers who all urged me to keep writing. Then, as the pandemic subsided, I held an art exhibit in San Francisco, where numerous people inquired if I had written a book to accompany the paintings. That's when I realized I needed to transform the screenplay into a full-fledged novel, and I’m so happy I did because I am absolutely in love with how the story unfolded and expanded.
Currently, I'm in the final rewrite phase, soon to embark on the illustrations. I also plan to create three-dimensional sets from papier-mâché, along with many of my fairy tale characters. My ultimate goal is to launch the book with an art exhibit and an animated stop-motion book trailer. Fingers crossed! To keep myself accountable and ensure I complete this ambitious project, I've decided to document it through Vlogging.
A few years ago, after my sister's passing, I started the "Love Lou Lou" podcast on YouTube in her honor. In this series, I interview fellow artists and creatives, who generously share their wisdom for the next generation. This platform now feels like the perfect place to chronicle my writing and art project. I'll be sharing Studio Vlogs along with more interviews. If this piques your curiosity and you'd like insights into my writing process or a glimpse behind-the-scenes of my art studio, I invite you to join me on YouTube!
